A few weeks ago we held the second annual Indulge, Imbibe, Imagine (i3) at the Madame Walker Theatre. Fifteen teams, composed of a chef, a bartender, and an artist, were assigned a landmark located along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail to use as their inspiration for a dish, a cocktail, and work of art.
While Dig IN is known for our Taste of Indiana event in August, i3 allowed us to incorporate art and showcase teams of three. Attendees had the opportunity to speak with the artists as they created their artwork and the finished artwork will be on display and available for purchase at Taste of Indiana.
It was a great forum to not only introduce attendees to restaurants, vendors, and artists that they may not be familiar with, but also a fun way for chefs, bartenders, and artists to work together. It was interesting to see the end result of the teams’ vision of what their landmark represented.
The winning team included Chef Dean Sample of the Meridian, bartender Jason Foust of the North End, and artist Lauren Ditchley. Their assigned landmark was the National American Legion Headquarters and Chef Sample’s brisket won over the crowd. The complete list of i3 participants is here.
Remember to get your tickets for Dig IN’s Taste of Indiana on August 28th to see the finished artwork and sample dozens of dishes!
